Amazing boy ~

Yummie dumplings delivered by a friend- Eli loved them !

It has been a couple of days since we got home. Eli has had no problem with the time change or jet-lag. Madeline and I are still up during the night. Monday we went to the pediatrician. Eli did well. He will need surgery in the future. I want to wait a bit until he can speak some English and is more adjusted to being with us. We then went and registered for school. He was so excited to see the kids playing in the gym. We purchased school supplies. He certainly understands getting ready for school. He raced into the house and packed/ repacked his backpack. He keeps pointing to the bag and then himself with the biggest grin on his face.

Eli will start school tomorrow !! Our school district has hired an interpreter to be with him the first day. We are so excited for him. He is definitely ready to go.
Eli also got a special gift from Madeline's best-friend......Goldfish !

He calls them "one" and "two" !
Two cool things happened today:
When I came home from visiting Grandpa Russ in the hospital- all the kids came running to me - including Eli. He didn't hug me like the rest, but he came over and made sure I knew that he was there.
When Dave, Harrison and Madeline were watching TV- Eli sat by Dave and snuggled up next to him.
These may seem like simple things but they are great steps for an older adopted child.

Congratulations on getting your boy home! I know it's been a journey- and a new one is just beginning. I agree, the little things are HUGE for an older adopted child. We have 4 and the little things are just amazing and precious to us. Enjoy these first days/weeks- they're amazing! Becky (www.thegustafsons.blogspot.com)
